Last night my 9 year old daughter received the infilling of the Holy Ghost! Now I know that some of you know what that is and some have no clue so I wanted to share with you what it is. :)
Jesus died on the cross so we wouldn't have to make sacrifices as atonement for our sins. He became the ultimate sacrifice....he died on the cross for our salvation. If you remember in Matt 16:18-19 Jesus told Peter that he was going to give him the key's to the kingdom.When Jesus died on the cross he gave up the 3 things that we need to be saved. He gave up blood, water and spirit. When he rose from the grave and then descended into heaven he told his followers to go to Jerusalem and tarry waiting for the promise that he would send. *And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one place and all in one accord. (I guarantee you they were praying!) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the holy ghost, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance*. (Acts 2:11-4) They stumbled out of the upper room speaking in tongues and acting like drunk people so that the people in the city thought they were drunk on wine. *But Peter stood up and said these are not drunken as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day (9am). But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; and it shall come to pass in the last day's saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh..* then he started preaching about how they had crucified the Lord of glory, Jesus Christ *and when they heard this they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethern, what shall we do?
*Then Peter said unto them, (remember Jesus had given Peter the key's to the kingdom, and remember the 3 things Jesus gave up on the cross) REPENT, and be BAPTIZED everyone of you in the NAME of JESUS CHRIST (not titles, the name! titles have no power, you have to be covered by the name of JESUS) for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the HOLY GHOST! (Acts 2:38) That was the promise and the keys that Jesus had told them to tarry and wait for! But wait, it wasn't just for those in the upper room because Peter went on to say *For the promise is unto YOU, and to YOUR CHILDREN and to ALL THAT ARE AFAR OFF, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.* (Acts2:39) These are the keys to the kingdom, the plan of salvation! The book of Acts has no amen at the end because the book of Acts is still being written! The promise is real! My great grandparents, my grandparents, my parents, myself and now my child has received this promise! You should be able to trace the birth of your "religion" back to the day of Pentecost because that is where the birth of the church began!
So you're curious about this speaking in tongues? The speaking in tongues in NOT the holy ghost but rather the evidence of it! We don't seek to "speak in tongues" but rather to be filled with the holy ghost! When you are totally surrendered to him, his spirit will come in and the evidence of it coming in is first you can see it on their face, there is a glow that comes over them and then you will hear that sound. Tongues is for the unbeliever, it is for the person seeking it as much as for anyone around. I KNEW I received it because I FELT it and I HEARD it! Your tongue is the most unyielding member of your body and when you speak in tongues (not fake or practiced) it is evidence that your heart, mind, spirit and body is totally surrendered to God!
Repentance is to have your sins covered in the blood of Jesus (he gave up blood on the cross), to be baptized is to have your sins remitted (he gave up water when they pierced his side on the cross) and the infilling of the Holy Ghost is his spirit coming into your heart (he have up the spirit at death). This holy ghost will change your life! It'll make you walk right, make you talk right and give you power to say no to the world and the devil. Of course we can stray away, get bad attitudes and make wrong choices but it you keep filled up with the holy ghost he will lead and guide you and keep you from doing those things. We're not saved til we hear the gates click behind us but we have his spirit living in us if you've followed this plan of salvation and he is coming back for that those are filled with his spirit. I'm so so happy that my daughter received his spirit last night!
And for those of you that might think we make our children do this, no we do not! She chose to seek for it! I actually was thinking she was too young since I was 12 when I received it but she proved me wrong! :)
Look past the swollen eyes from crying and see that glow on her face! After she finished praying I asked her if she had got the holy ghost (because we don't tell anyone they got it, they have to tell us) and the look of realization came over her face and she started crying and saying "thank you Jesus!". It's real folks! It'll give you peace and joy that nothing in this world can compare to! Just ask my daughter.....
